I have spent some time studying the secret language of myth.

I have spent some time studying the secret language of myth. It is my qualified opinion that nearly all myths hide a deeper truth.  For instance, the Golden Fleece was not literally a 'lambs skin' or whatever the ridiculous legend was, but it was indeed the wheat-fields of Asia up the Dardanelles.  Very necessary to sustain a population in the mediterranean and a secret trade route to Asia. Remember, in those days there were no maps. Many epics contained coded information as to where valuable things were located.  For instance Scylla and Charybdis in the Odyssey might well have been the secret location of Tin resources... The strategic metal of the Bronze Age...

And one thing I have always found to be true in mythology, where there is a monster, there is a treasure.  Monsters are always there to protect something.

Is this not also true in the modern world?

  1. Applying that maxim to the Anazktec legends surrounding glyphs, one must assume they offer great potential by way of transformation.  If they are able to spread information and expand potential awareness then much good could come from studying them.  Conversion of entire societies to werewolves hint at the dangers of intentional or inadvertent misuse inherent in any new discovery.

  2. I am increasingly convinced that Shapers are the modern day monster that are concealing something of surpassing value.

  3. So what coded information may be in the Anazktec legends?  and conversely, are there myths then that have coded references to shapers...

and back to the metals - I remember a long time ago (near the beginning of the release of information) - the references to metals, copper and resources - need to look at those discussions and sources again

also makes me think how many of the old spirituals referred to constellations and were sung to create guides for escaping slaves - http://www.teachingushistory.org/lessons/pdfs_and_docs/FollowtheDrinkinGourd.html

  4. Perhaps the Shapers themselves are the mythical monsters.  A legend formed to scare people away from XM, a treasure that some may want to keep to themselves...

  5. The monster in our myth is Jarvis. He's pretty open about what the treasure is though......

  6. We know there aren't goblins in the woods. We know there aren't sea monsters over the horizon.  We know there aren't little green men on Mars.  Something about us wants there to be a monster in the unknown.

  8. I'm a bit confused. Are these your ideas or are you quoting Hank Johnson ? Because this post sounds an awful lot like a part of the conversation between Hank and ADA documented in these logs: http://www.nianticproject.com/?id=sc202a and http://www.nianticproject.com/?id=sc204a.

Or did Hank learn these ideas from you?

  9. Jose Ramirez I am leaning that way too, but then that becomes are shapers a monster humans (13magnus?) have made to keep others away from... treasure????  And treasure always has its price, look at Midias

  10. Civilisation evolves and so do our monsters. We went from sea monsters to vampires to evil aliens. But aren't all monsters just a reflection of what we think is evil in humans ?
But yes our curiosity and desire for thrills might be a big asset, but also a big problem in some ocasions

  11. Linda Besh Monsters only bar the treasure from the heroes of myth.  For the culture, they serve to dissuade the masses from seeking said treasure while alerting researchers that there may be something to look for.

In this case the legend of evil aliens dominating the will of those who dare to use XM would serve as the monster cooked up to keep its benefits limited to a few insiders.

  12. Those were both glyph exposure. The visual stimulation of dormant neural pathways by glyphs is not XM related except by overlapping research communities.

  13. Mike Wissinger that is something I'm trying to understand, relationship between glyphs and XM... Are they two separate things Calvin and others is trying to unite? Project Whydah was glyphs, Project Niantic was Xm and now the merger of the two is the next stage?

  14. Both carry information that activates parts of the brain. Glyphs trigger that visually (and possibly audibly). The XM carrier signal works on a subatomic level and seems capable of inducing broader physical changes in addition to being able to change matter without requiring a human subject. Both appear to be ancient and are assumed by some (with no real evidence) that they have a shared origin.

XM and Chaotic matter are newly discovered properties of the world. Glyphs seem to operate on newly discovered properties of our minds. Since our brains are matter that can be responsive to and exert control over XM the surest link between XM and Glyphs is us.

  15. is this something Edgar Allan Wright along the lines of what you were looking at in terms of myths..... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mythopoeic_thought
