I believe I have missed something. What is an Infomorph?
Here's is todays question.
Here's is todays question. We have all been seeing the word Abaddon around. I am puzzled as to whether this is a reference to a place (synonym for Hades) or a person (Satan or Appylon)(sp). Or is it something else?
This is an extremely interesting piece: https://niantic.schlarp.com/investigation:videos:devra_exotic
ReplyDeleteAn infomorph is a virtual body of information that can possess emergent features such as personality. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infomorph)
ReplyDeleteIs that what you think Devra has become?
We have known for some time that individuals within range and in a receptive state are patterned by their engagement with portals. Roland Jarvis was the first instance we know of in which one of those patterns gained sapience and began acting as an independent entity not within conventional 3-d space but within the XM substrate itself. Devra Bogdanovich now appears to be in a similar state, although perhaps with an outside ego competing for control of a conjoined entity of which she is only a part. Portals in Pasadena presented messages reminiscent of Jarvis' initial appearance at Cupid's Span: http://www.nianticproject.com/?id=sc130a
ReplyDeleteInteresting indeed... "theoretically possible to understand the absolute workings of every aspect of the mind"
ReplyDeleteSo what if the N'Zeer don't transform us into 100% pure logical beings, but give us an absolute knowlegde of the working of our mind and by that allow us to find a logical explanation for everything.
Are we suggesting that's what Devra has become?
ReplyDeleteProbably wrong speculation here, but what if that's what the N'zeer are? Both a specific set of infomorphs, and the concept in general? It would explain how they were banished from the earth - pretty tough to exist as a virtual intelligence in this reality with no computers and a lock on the 13magnus portal.
Maybe Jahan's summoning ritual didn't entirely fail, but primed the sensitives to become infomorphs under the right circumstances, such as Devra's shard reassembly. So the resistance victory in Shonin allows the partial return of the N'zeer in the form of Devra, even though the original infomorphs have yet to emerge? Maybe because the resistance only won Shonin cumulatively, instead of at each event?
It would also explain why Jarvis was so afraid of machine intelligence - Interitus is probably the first step on the evolutionary ladder that leads to the N'zeer.
ADA gets my vote. So we have the mysterious 512k Bytes of code that H Richard Loeb wrote, but also all of the algorithms that she has "detected". The information within her has assembled to become her.
ReplyDeleteCould Human beings be infomorphs? During childbirth, the mother is a portal.
ReplyDeleteEdgar Allan Wright question (and for others as well) - infomorph - two thoughts
ReplyDelete1. In the movie The Matrix - when Neo and everyone else is in the Matrix, aren;t they, essentially, infomorphs?
2. Are digtal dreams simply the way to construct infomorphs?
