I can not tell you why I need to know this, but I am sure you will very quickly discern the relevance.  What do we know of Calvin's relationship with Jahan.  When did they meet?  Was one subordinate to the other?

Also, I am growing hazy on the details of how Hank was channeled to Jahan's temple after his recursion. I seem to remember that there were multiple groups involved.  Was Hank in contact with Calvin at that point, or had he lost faith in his prior benefactor?  What is their relationship now?

    I have a question about the recursed and the simulacrums: they remember everything that happened to them in their previous "life"? or their memories could be corrupted, eresed or even manipulated?

    I seem to recall Hank was surrounded by active hostiles. Smith fell back leaving an opening and he ran. SE then followed, apparently herding him in that direction.

    Jahan attended university or maybe a seminar with Devra as I recall. It would have been easy to connect with Calvin then.

    JoJo Stratton Yes. It appears that in the days before Hank's recursion he planted 'breadcrumbs' in portals of significance to him so that he could recreate his memories. There is an implication that actually visiting certain places helps this effort.

    Edgar Allan Wright​ I wonder about breadcrumbs. How do you "leave them" do they have a decay rate or once put there, they stay forever? And can anyone leave them, or is it only certain skills that enable that.

    Also, I wonder how breadcrumbs are related to hyperthreading and if they are similar lanes of function within the portal network?
