It is becoming apparent that Farlowe and Smith are not exactly simulacrum, but both survived things you would not expect them to survive (Dark XM killed Antoine Smith's partner, but not Smith), Farlowe should have been dead in the Zagreb Caves. How do we explain this? Or is a mystery yet to be solved?
There must be more to this situation than human and simulacrum. Can this possibly be related to the mysterious Glyph that fuses Shaper and Human? I'm not sure if that Glyph has ever been definitively understood.
ReplyDeleteAlso, this situation seems to be the ideal goal of the XM corporations. Humans that are elevated in this way almost sounds like a super soldier program.
ReplyDeleteHubert Farlowe was also reading as a portal for Devra to use when at Visur. I think Smith and Hubert are similar, but, Smith needed to be "cured" and OLW was helping with that. Is that because Hubert is based in XM and Smith in CM?
ReplyDeleteWhat do we know about the circumstances surrounding the conversion of Farlowe and Smith into what they are?
ReplyDeleteWe know Smith had exposure to dark XM in the Luizi Crater. Likewise, Farlowe experienced a massive XM exposure at the death of Jarvis. Is there an intermediate state that is a sort of lesser entanglement? We know Farlowe is subject to temporal discontinuities, but they seem to not be under his control. Does Smith do the same?
Perhaps they are the same sort of thing as Jahan?
ReplyDeleteSmith was at death's door when Oliver Lynton-Wolfe performed some procedure to stabilize his condition. It was the leverage that gave OLW control of the redX prototypes. If he was able to control the mutagenic effects of pure CM then healing is likely only the beginning of Smith's new abilities.
ReplyDeleteFarlowe had heavy XM exposure. Could he have been subject to Calvin's reconstructed 13M ritual as some sort of control group? Applying the enhancement to his original body instead of a simulacrum prosthetic? Or is Farlowe somehow the nest that sustains the other Niantic sensitives' recursion?
I think that a lot of what Farlowe was doing with his time checks and such was trying to figure out how to control the temporal/spatial discontinuities and use them to his advantage.

ReplyDeletethere is some discussion in the Essex hangout right now about Smith - Edgar Allan Wright do you think Smith and Hubert are the "same" thing, just one created by XM and one by CM? If so, we could have the making of an AWESOME study of the influence of XM versus CM on humans......
