This might have escaped wide notice, but it seems that the mysterious 1331 is again cruising the roads. I wonder what this means... I remember, at one point the NIA was trying to destroy it. There were theories that Jarvis' body had been transported in it and there was some residual XM or Dark XM. It seems that there was another theory that it housed some secret NIA technology... What do the rest of you conclude from the strange history of 1331? Why is it back? What is it doing?
Upgrades and updates. The driver needed to be debriefed as well. We can only assume that it's true work requires it to monitor vast areas of heavy usage.
ReplyDeleteBesides hitting parking signs, it is probably surveying XM concentrations and the effects it has when agents are amassed nearby. My guess it is getting long term data on constant exposure of XM to humans

ReplyDeleteAll those early clips of it picking up and tossing out bodies lends support to the idea of it being a delivery vehicle for the ABADN project - either gathering or secreting away the original vessels of the sensitives who were reconstituted as simulacra. I believe we also have intercepts from the NIA indicating it's got tech they lost the blueprints to (and the escape burst wherein it either froze time or teleported away from pursuers lends support to that theory). No reason both can't be true - transport of XM/CM payloads havng been a necessary element to charge the batteries, so to speak. My guess is that its current mission is to collect XM and telemetry from the many agents who engage with its portal manifestation at meetups - deepening the dossier on active agents that feeds Omnivore's predictive analysis.
ReplyDeleteEdgar Allan Wright Having encountered NL-1331 on multiple occasions myself, I can say that from my experiences, they are still monitoring XM. Though for some reason now, there seems to be talk of a new kind of XM called "Bar XM" that November Lima and Ethan Lepouttre are strangely attracted to.

ReplyDeleteThe vehicle is a roving portal by itself. Unsure about a body, but Jarvis did appear through a portal long ago. Could an essence not just appear but be trapped inside a portal?
ReplyDeleteFrom a more measurable aspect, I imagine this is one of the highest contested portal in the game. Possible being captured more than any other since inception.
ReplyDeleteTo do that requires what? XMPs and Resonators, to use those require XM, and on and on. I know I personally deployed in excess of 800 Resonators on NL1331 in a 2 hour period. While this is a bit on the high side I do know that nearly every agent around me on BOTH sides was at a point of not being able to fill out a portal. So much so that we were dropping each other (opposing sides_ the gear necessary to complete the missions. The XM concentration utilized within 40 Meters of this portal is extremely high.
Food for thought.
It's often ignored by scholars who consider us nothing more than capitalists, but cognoscentes and antiquaries have long been aware of the impact of NL1331, as it regularly carries a very heavy payload of XM infused objects; it's undeniably unique in the way it affects those in surrounding regions.

Jarvis taught us long ago that copies of our spirit are created in the other dimension as we interact with the portals. It's been generally assumed he meant the portal network as one large entity.. But maybe they're not all connected so perfectly. Going off Niko M's thoughts, more agents would have had their spirit bonded with the portal network from this one portal than any other. Not sure what value it brings, but it could make this portal the strongest connection to the shapers?
