Absolutely brilliant responses to yesterday's question.

Absolutely brilliant responses to yesterday's question. I asked flint dille if I should move from G+ to Facebook and he, as usual didn't have a good answer but he did ask JoJo Stratton, who had a number of ideas as to where we should move our community. I suspect that in a while, for the short term, I'll move to the Book of Faces, but welcome any other format that Essex prefers as long as it functions more or less like G+.

Also, is is possible to archive this page and the Essex G+ page before it vanishes?

  1. You are moving to Facebook? Oh doctor... now that I was getting used to your mostly defragmented self. It was fun, though. I'll miss you but there are still some dark places in the world that won't dare to enter, not even because of you. That is where the line is drawn. I am truly sorry, but I can't follow you there.
    About archiving the data:

  2. yes, you need to use google takeout. download it all and archive. Edgar Allan Wright if possible, hosting for an essex wiki could be useful, community could fill in the gaps.

  3. There are plenty of people who would rather see you move to another platform instead of Facebook, Edgar Allan Wright.

Telegram, Reddit, maybe Slack...but for some, Facebook is where the line is drawn, as Luís Romudas said.

  4. Mustafa Said telegram and slack are similar types of platform, reddit doesn't fit into that group though. Reddit however might be a good successor for g+ 😉

  5. When you use Google Takeout, be sure to download in JSON format where it is available since the HTML format is essentially useless.

  6. Much good information about the demise of G+ and where to go in the aftermath to be found here:

  7. Been using Instagram, not sure with Facebook, but you can cross post to Facebook and Twitter when posting on Instagram

  8. You can cross post between Instagram and Facebook for the whiners who don't know how to use Facebook's privacy settings.

  9. To repeat what I said in an earlier post:
    * lots of Essexians are and have been alienated by Facebook.
    * Reddit (or some sort of forum) seems to be favored as a platform for posting, archiving Intel and discussing it.
    * for "contacting" many have suggested telegram - both to you as well as to other sensitives and people of interest.

  10. Edgar Allan Wright I suggest Reddit as the only feasible answer for posts that works in any similar fashion to G+.

    Why Reddit over Facebook?
Simple -> Just like G+, Reddit does not require you to register to be able to partake of the content. The information would be freely available for all to process. You would have total control over the subreddit you create. For those who would like to engage in the discussion, they can register for use. The registration process is simple and painless and the users would be able to get up and contributing in minutes.

  11. I would say Reddit over Facebook... Or I would bug the NIA to do the responsible thing and create a forum for all discussion of XM related matters. After all why should Facebook own and monitor all xm related documents that are leaked by truth seekers when the NIA can own and monitor it themselves?

  12. I would ask that you consider a different option.. I am one of many agents that do not use my legal name in my Investigations and actively use FB for private life. Facebook does not allow multiple accounts or any accounts that do not include your legal name and is prone to abuse as it's reporting process is easy. One person can flag your name as incorrect and shut down your account. I have personally had it happen to me.... I do not use my legal name in ingress for a variety of reasons and if you moved to fb I would have to use an instable account that could be flagged and forced to shut down... I know I am not the only one that would have this issue as well...

  13. Adding to the groups coordinating efforts - G+ RPG Escape Rocket - this one focuses on RPG tabletop groups - which might be a little closer to Essex. Something to consider in the rush to archive the g+ posts - where exactly would they move to? We can debate moving to other platforms for future use, but what platform would be used for archiving the g+ posts (it is good to use Takeout and other methods - but what do you "do" with that data)?

  14. And this wiki is dedicated to helping plan migration - https://social.antefriguserat.de/index.php/Exodus_Planning_and_Scheduling Yeah - I like wikis :) - plus I am experimenting with migrating my g+ to a wiki format - just for kicks and to see how it works.... (yes, I want to preserve the Essex g+ community - but I want more to preserve Devra Bogdanovich g+ posts and comments first, then Hank's, and so on through the Niantic Project members - It is a bit of a long road....

  15. Hopefully Niantic will propose their base platform, or better yet, produce one for their games.

  16. Edgar Allan Wright Use Instagram too, you just need to sync an Instagram handle to a Facebook page to have the same posts go up on both.

  17. I like that. And also adult dating sites.
